The things commuters do…
Everyday without fail, at 34th Street, Herald Square—the 6:00 rush hour commuters run for the train as though there isn’t one directly behind. Some people stumble, some fall and the others are so rude—they push people out the way for the train. They have one thing on their mind—I have to get on this train, I have to get on this train.
Once they are on the train that is already full, they elbow you in the head or stomach and don’t even say “I’m sorry or excuse me”. Maybe I’m asking for too much. This is New York…
But anyway, what really baffles me is people risk their lives just to make sure they get on. Today I saw someone stick his head in as the doors were closing. I looked at him and shooked my head in disbelieve. Why on earth would you stick a body part to keep the train doors open much less you neck/head? Then the red lights come on and immediately after, the conductor makes and announcement “Please stand clear of the closing doors” (I think that’s what they say). At this point, you have angry passengers…then comes the looks and stares they give you because now you’ve made them late for their destination. Now tell me…was it really worth it?

This reminds me of the cars who speed around me, only to end up stuck at a red light right in front of me. Is it really worth it to drive like a maniac in order to be one car length ahead of where you were? Idiots.

yes, there are lots of idiots around.
Take for example the people that get on the bus and stand right at the door when they know that they are not getting off at any stop nearby. And they always seem to have a bunch of bags or something
If it gets uncontrollable here. The underground company would usually set a guard with special uniforms to direct the traffic and also direct people to queue up in order to enter the trains. It is less hectic and chaos..
oh, and in hongkong, the closing door would open again if somebody is standing very near to the door. So the train will automatically repeats the closing and opening the door until the guy is far away from the door and it usually takes a few times to make sure, which is very time consuming!
But after some time people got educated and try not to stand too near the door, because if you are the one causing the repeat movement, you will be stared at and even get scolded!
