Oh How i love Sundays

Posted by raymondm in Commuter Rants

Man, sometimes i just feel like the the average subway rider has it out for me. It seems like almost everyday i meet up with some fool or the other.

Take for instance today.

I get on the train to go to the city and as usual on a Sunday morning i always have some fool who has lost the concept on taking a shower sit next to me. Mind you that on a Sunday morning there are lots or free seats. Yet however, tho mofo sites right next to me.

Sweet mother of God “S.O.A.P. that spell soap” and yes (hangs my head in shame) today i said it out loud and to their face. My manners seemed to have left me today. Not only the the guy laugh, as if i was talking to myself, but the comment flew directly over his head. He turned to me and said, “Don’t you hate when people just don’t seem to smell themselves?”. My mouth dropped open, was he pulling my leg or was he just thick headed? I guess he is a good candidate for the award or most annoying person in the office.

That however was not the main goodie for today. At each stop i hear the announcer say that there is no downtown local service, i am going uptown but i pay attention because on my trip back i have to take the downtown. So i get off at my stop and i look across to the downtown platform and i notice all the signs and this couple. A husband and wife with their little pooch. She is blasting him out that there are local downtown trains running and he is pointing to the signs and the fact that the back entrance is locked. I was a bit early so i just decided to mind their business, for the sake of new juice to write about. Eventually he convinces her to come over to the uptown platform after an MTA worker reiterates that there are no trains.

So they come over just as the train is pulling up and they get on. Just as i walk off and their train doors close, up comes a downtown local train. I quickly snapped back to look at her expression. PRICELESS!!!! Also priceless that the look on his face as her bag hit him square on the jaw. I guess he wont be trying the man’s best friend test. Yet another example of MTA goofups. GO figure.

Anyway enough of my rant for today, go win some money, or get caught up on the weekend review and i’ll blog you soon.

When i was new to the subway

Posted by funnyguy in By Subway, Commuter Rants

This is one funny, sad and yet true depiction of the daily transit.
I moved to NYC about 4 years ago and i had to observe to learn just what you said.
The sad part for me was that i was coming from brooklyn, so i had very few people transit workers or not that were willing to help.
The only help i got was one guy that gave me a gem of advice when i needed help on the metrocard system :

” if you don’t get your azz moving quicker and i miss that train cause you don’t know how what metrocard to buy, i’ll make you regret waking up today.”

needless to say i figured out darn quick right then.
