The Art of Squeezing

Posted by odolfo in Random Chronicles

Who among us has never been squeeze to death while commuting on a train, buses or any public transportation. This is a ‘follow up’ post to the Philippine Jeepney (You’ll see some pictures now)

Jeepneys with no passenger

In the provincial area, only a few can buy a jeepney of their own. The public transport numbers are low so people tend to squeeze just to have a ride back home.

This is what a typical jeepney in the province look like. Let the pictures speak for themselves.

Facts on overloaded/overcrowded jeepneys:

1. Amidst the situation people can still give a smile, see the pictures

2. It doesn’t matter where you sit, as long as you are riding the jeepney, you should pay the same fare.

3. People prefer to be seated on top because of the fresh air

4. Some overcrowded jeepneys are hired by one family to save some money.

5. it is fun and it offers adventure and experience

Sanani for Father’s Day

Posted by raymondm in By Subway, Random Chronicles, cool links

Hey guys and gals…

Have you all decided what you were going to get your father, husband, BF or the man of the house for Father’s Day?

Well i suggest you try something a little bit different this year.

Recently we had our launch party in NY and we had Sanani sponsor our gift bags for the event. The next day i woke up and i realized that i had actually saved a bag for my self (yes people if you having an event make sure you keep a giftbag for yourself) and in it was the Sanani Mocha Coffee. I brewed me a cup and the first thing i had to say was that brewing it smelt lovely. It tasted so good, that i had to order some for my own use.

So yesterday, i brewed myself a batch and put it in my travel sippy and off i went to work. Now there i am on the train enjoying my coffee and listing to Needful Things audiobook (Stephen King, go get it) and this lady sitting next to me is there sniffing my coffee!!!!!!

Sheesh!!!!!! i was like excuse me? and she said it smelt so good she wanted to know what it was. i ended up pouring some of it into her cup and the cup of the guy sitting across me. They all like it

So i decided that i just had to pass this on to you all.

All my readers and visitors can get a discount of 15% off Sanani Coffee. You know i have to share it with you all as a thanks for reading me.

So head on over to www.sanani.com to buy your Genuine Mocha Coffee and put in the code (NYC2008) to get your discount.

After you taste it come back here and let me know what you guys think..

Here is some info about Sanani that i pulled from off their site.

What makes the Sanani Coffee Company special? How can we deliver the ultimate coffee experience that is not available from any other company? And why does our coffee taste so good?

The Origin

First and foremost is the fact that the source of all our coffee is Yemen. Why? Yemen Mocha Coffee is considered one of the finest coffees in the world and has been cultivated and processed in the same way for centuries. This coffee is grown on mountain terraces and naturally dried. No chemicals are used in its cultivation, and it is considered naturally organic.

Our Goal

The Sanani Coffee Company was created with a goal to re-introduce this historically world known gourmet coffee to the most discerning individuals who are accustomed to the best life has to offer. We chose to name the company Sanani. Which literally means “from Sana’a” (the capital of Yemen).

Our Focus

We specialize in Yemen Mocha Coffee exclusively. We are not a one-stop coffee company that sells everything and anything that is related to coffee. The Sanani brand is focused on Yemen Mocha Coffee ONLY. All our effort is exterted into offering the best of Yemen Mocha to the United States and the world.

Having identified the source of one of the finest coffees in the world, we took further steps to determine the best coffee growing regions within Yemen. Once we had obtained the best of the best, we implemented the most stringent selection criteria called Platinum Select™, by which the best coffee even within that region is hand selected to make it into a box of Sanani Coffee.

Our coffee is a grown at about 7000 feet above sea level. It is a well-known fact amongst connoisseurs that coffee grown at high altitudes results in small, concentrated and very flavorful beans. Even the raw green beans from Yemen are intrinsically more expensive.

What makes Sanani special and why does our coffee taste better?

  • Generally, green Coffees fade quickly after the dried fruit is removed from the tree. This causes the loss of some of its aromatics. To solve this problem, our coffee is roasted in Yemen with fresh harvested lots. The beans that are roasted for Sanani have NOT been lying around in storage for months. The logistics surrounding this special care comes at a price but was created to improve the quality of the coffee.
  • The coffee is roasted by the very people who have intimate knowledge of the optimal roast needed for each particular season that the coffee was grown in.
  • Generally, most coffees are shipped by sea. Unfortunately, when shipped by sea, the coffee arrives in the United States with an added moisture content that is picked up during the 45 day voyage. This makes the coffee fragile and detracts from the natural flavors of this incredible coffee. At Sanani Coffee Company we have solved this problem by AIR-SHIPPING ALL our coffee. We are probably the ONLY coffee importer to import every single bean by AIR. This nearly eliminates moisture absorption allowing us to deliver the best tasting Yemen Mocha in the U.S. The cost of shipping a container’s worth of coffee by air is about 18 times more than if shipped by sea. But we believe the extra cost is absolutely worth it. When you taste our coffee, there is no doubt you will be able to validate that our process delivers one of the best coffee flavors in the world.
  • The roasted coffee is sealed in airtight (250 gram) packets before being flown to the United States. Flights from Yemen typically take a couple of days.
  • When an online order is received, the fresh coffee is ground to specification and immediately sealed and shipped to the customer.

  • We have exclusive agreements with the most respected coffee producers in Yemen. As part of our agreement, the most stringent quality requirements have been put in place.
  • Simply The best coffee on the Planet

Most of the details described above are what we do behind the scenes to ensure that customers of the Sanani Coffee Company get the absolute best coffee available anywhere!

Sanani, The Original Mocha Coffee is the most captivating of coffees in many respects. It has everything: taste, character, history, responsibility and unmatched eminence. This eminence is validated by exceptional reviews put forth by connoisseurs and enthusiasts the world over. Considered by many as one of the finest coffees in the world, it is backed by centuries of tradition in its cultivation. This tradition dictates organic cultivation methods that result in an excellent coffee that is environment friendly and conducive to the preservation of the planet.

    This Morning’s Rambling Rant

Posted by raymondm in Commuter Rants, Random Chronicles

So I woke up this morning and proceeded to get ready to go to work.

First thing I had to do was drop a Entrecard on Jeff Buzz’s site. Why? Because I got some good info from him and he guest blogged on my page. Whoohoo.

Feel free to ask me to guest blog. I’ll always say yes. Hint hint.

Jeff was one of the good links I found browsing John Cow…..

    But I digress.

So I decide that this morning’s snowy commute would be worry free. I stepped outside watching yesterdays snow on the ground(have you noticed how many NY bloggers have snow pics now) saying I my head. “this will be a incident free trip, this will be an incident free trip”

Boy who was I kidding? As with Murphy’s law what can go wrong, will go wrong, and how’s that for an inspirational quote.

Firstly my metro card refused to work and of course my friendly neighborhood MTA worker is all busy polishing her nails so she can’t help. Or maybe she decided i was speaking Chinese.

The result? I had to buy another card.

On to the ride. First train came just on time. No hassles.

The second, just never seemed to show up…….

What would have helped myself, and all the other commuters waiting to get to their destination, was an announcement from the train that we just got off, or some signs stating that there are no local trains at this station!!!!

I’ll chalk that one up to my flaw. I should have known better and paid attention in foresight class.

So back to the express, which mind you seemed to stop coming the minute we all finally realized there was no local, and on to take the train up then back down.

    Did it end there?

Why of course not. Why should it.

This lady sits next to me on the ride and she smells. And when I say smell I mean smell. Fish and rotten tomatoes smell. I WISHED I WAS ALONE!!

Now if I held my breath and looked at her, she was drop dead gorgeous and all dressed up like she was going to walk the runway. She reminded me of a Leonor Watling photo I saw. I feel sorry for the next person she hugs.

On the complete opposite of the spectrum was the woman sitting across from me. She had one some really nice perfume but her face made you want to show her a plastic surgeon pamphlet and say “Need a Lift?”

Oh well I did make it to my stop and now I’m here trying to win EC’s from Joe Tech , hoping I had the sense to save this week and wondering what would Simon Cowell say about my blog or about my other site Poetical Justice

Working from home may be an option
