NYC Port AuthorityA Massachusetts woman traveling to Oklahoma City with her three young children has given birth to a fourth child during rush hour at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan.

The Authority says 32-year-old Cheryl Peterson of Somerville, Mass., alerted officials at the midtown terminal she was going into labor during her layover Tuesday.

Six police officers and emergency medical technicians rushed to help Peterson, who was nine months pregnant. The Port Authority says the woman was preparing to go to an ambulance when she told them, “The baby’s coming out right now.”

A spokesman says the baby girl was delivered about 5:52 p.m. near Gate 24 in the south wing.

Cheryl is doing well at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
