Ok, so we are well into the New Year. Ok, ok, only two weeks. You would think by now the streets have cleared out a bit from the tourist, the people on the sidewalk trying to sell you DVD’s or CD’s, knockoff Louie Vuitton bags laying out on a faded blanket, etc. Well, that’s surely not the case. This past weekend I was in China Town with my husband. I’ve been there maybe once or twice before. If you don’t know where you’re going, let me be the first to tell you—it’s definitely not the place to be wondering about. My first instinct when I got off the train was to run!!!!. I barely had room to put one foot in front the other, it was really that bad. Every corner I turned there was someone trying to persuade me to follow them to an unknown location for bootleg items; one lady was literally tugging my arm!!! What the HELL! There was also this one person yapping on her cell phone as though she doesn’t know that most people can’t do more than one thing at a time. In her case, instead of walking a talking at the same time, she stood right in the middle of the passage way carrying on a conversation AS IF she were in her bedroom. This time I said WTF!!!!! I kept looking at my watch begging my husband to leave, when I realized we were only there for five minutes. It sure seemed like forever. For some people, this experience is what they would call amazing. But for me it was a complete nightmare. When I got home I could still hear the lady’s voice, “Coach, Gucci, Louie Vuitton, follow me”
